Practice That Actually Follows Your Pacing
Â
Most spiral practice decides the sequence for you.
This doesn’t.
The Word Problem of the Day sets are organized by skill, so you decide when each skill enters the mix. Start with familiar math, add new skills as you teach them, and keep earlier skills coming back.
Students get true mixed practice without being asked to solve word problems using math they have not learned yet.
Two Ways to Keep Students Working with Word Problems
Ongoing practice for skills students have learned, plus focused activities to explore particular skills and problem types.
Word Problem of the Day
Keep word problems in your routine with ready-to-use problems organized by skill. Choose problems that match what you’ve taught, add new skills as students learn them, and bring earlier skills back throughout the year.
Targeted Word Problem Support
Give students another way to work with specific math skills and problem types. Use scaffolded practice, organizers, and word problem sorts to help students make sense of situations, compare problems, and work through their thinking.

EXPLORE ALL-ACCESS MATHBuilt From the Way I Actually Taught Word Problems
Hi, I’m Jennifer Findley.
Early in my teaching career, I thought that if I taught the math well, students would be able to apply it to word problems.
But when I started teaching fifth grade, I realized it wasn’t that simple. Students needed regular opportunities to make sense of situations, decide how to approach problems, and talk through their thinking.
So I became much more intentional about making word problems part of our math instruction, from the way we introduced skills to the routines and activities we used throughout the year.
That’s the approach behind these resources: helping you keep word problems a regular, meaningful part of math without having to create everything yourself.
